MEERESMUSEUM - Tips for guests and frequently asked questions
Are you planning a visit to the MEERESMUSEUM? We have compiled an overview of the most important information for your visit to the museum in Stralsund's old town.

In order to make your visit to the museum a pleasant experience, we ask our guests to show consideration for one another.
We look forward to your visit as a family and have the following tips for your planning:
A visit with children of baby age
There is a changing table on the first floor in the entrance area of the MEERESMUSEUM.
Bottle warmers are available on request at the information point.
A visit with toddlers and younger children
Unfortunately, it is not possible to bring bicycle trailers, handcarts and other bulky baby carriages into the museum. Please secure your means of transportation outside.
Interesting information that you can pass on to your children can be found on display boards and signs on the showcases.
Some exhibits can be touched and handled. These have been marked accordingly.
A visit with older people
Seating is available in the exhibitions.
Please be prepared for changing lighting conditions between the exhibitions and aquariums.
You are welcome to use our floor plans for orientation.
The MEERESMUSEUM is a barrier-free building
Elevator: The open exhibitions are accessible via an elevator.
Checkroom: Lockers are available in the foyer.
Parking spaces: One disabled parking space is located directly next to the MEERESMUSEUM, seven more are available in the “Am Meeresmuseum” multi-storey parking lot
Seating: Seating is available in the museum.
WC: A disabled WC is located in the foyer
Preferential admission: This is granted to people with restricted mobility.
Wheelchairs and buggies on loan: These are available during your visit. Please contact our colleagues at the information point next to the ticket offices.
Dogs and other pets are not allowed in the MEERESMUSEUM – with the exception of guide dogs and assistance dogs. Other animals used in the context of animal-protected therapies are not among the exceptions.
Dog care during your stay
Are you traveling with a dog and need assistance during your stay? We will be happy to recommend a dog care provider nearby. If you enquire in good time, your four-legged friend will be in good hands and lovingly looked after.

In the foyer of the MEERESMUSEUM, you will find the museum shop.
There, you can discover sustainable toys for children, maritime decorations for your home, and the turtle “Marli” as a keepsake of your visit.
Dive in and browse the selection. Please note the shop has different opening hours than the museum.
The OZEANEUM, located on the harbour island in Stralsund, showcases the underwater world of the northern seas, life-sized models of various whales, and Humboldt penguins on its rooftop terrace. In the exhibitions, detailed exhibits and modern digital stations illustrate the world’s oceans all the way to the Baltic Sea.
The NATUREUM at Darßer Ort features exhibitions and aquariums that present the coastal habitats typical of the Fischland-Darß-Zingst peninsula. Located in a national park, the museum site offers an impressive nature experience—even during the car-free journey through the Darß Forest.
The NAUTINEUM on Dänholm Island near Stralsund serves as a collection site and houses facilities for scientific research. It is currently closed.
